Will Artino is Runner-Up for the StatSheet Missouri Valley Sixth Man of the Week - February 11th, 2013

StatSheet's Missouri Valley Player of the Week for February 11th goes to Tyler Brown from Illinois State. Jalen Pendleton from Southern Illinois has won StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Dawon Cummings from Indiana State has won StatSheet's Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week.

Brown was the best in the Missouri Valley in assists (7.0 per game). He also put up huge numbers in rebounding (3.5 per game), shooting (50%), and scoring (26 pts per game). The Illinois State senior played well for the Redbirds in wins against Drake and 16th ranked Creighton.

Brown led all scoring for the Redbirds with 25 points while adding 9 assists in a 94-86 win against Drake. He followed that up with a team-leading 27 points plus an additional 5 assists in a narrow 75-72 win against Creighton.

This is the first time that Tyler Brown has been named the StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Johnny Hill, a sophomore from Illinois State. Honorable mention goes to Evansville senior Colt Ryan. Doug McDermott finished eighth and was the highest ranking player from Creighton.

StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week: Southern Illinois's Jalen Pendleton

Jalen Pendleton averaged 18 minutes while starting both games for Southern Illinois. His averages in both scoring (12.5 pts per game) and shooting (70.0%) topped all Missouri Valley freshmen. In a late 64-62 win over Wichita State, Pendleton tallied 8 points and 2 assists. In a 66-65 loss to Indiana State, he led all scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 7 rebounds.

This marks the first time this season that Jalen Pendleton has won the StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Egidijus Mockevicius from Evansville. Dorrian Williams from Missouri State takes honorable mention.

StatSheet Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week: Indiana State's Dawon Cummings

Junior Dawon Cummings, a 6-4 reserve guard, averaged 21 minutes over two games for the Sycamores. In a surprising 76-57 upset of Creighton, Cummings put up 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Then in a last-minute 66-65 win against Southern Illinois, he racked up 4 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the first time this season that Dawon Cummings has won the StatSheet Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week. Our own Will Artino is runner up. Gary Ricks Jr., a junior guard from Drake, receives honorable mention. Creighton has 4 StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week wins this season.
