Bradley's Taylor Brown has been chosen as the StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week for the week ending January 16th. Drake's Jeremy Jeffers has won StatSheet's Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Drake's Kraidon Woods has taken StatSheet's Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week.
Brown was tops in the Missouri Valley in scoring (21.67 pts per game) and free throws (6.67 per game). He also tallied a strong showing in shooting (50%) and rebounding (9.3 per game). The Bradley senior marched the Braves to a victory versus Northern Iowa and losses to Drake and Wichita State.
Brown led scoring and rebounding for the Braves with 28 points and 12 rebounds in an 82-74 loss to Drake. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 14 points and 8 rebounds in a 78-41 loss to Wichita State. Finally, Brown put up 23 points and 8 rebounds, closing out the week with a 78-67 win over Northern Iowa.
This is the first time that Taylor Brown has been named the StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is our own Doug McDermott. Honorable mention goes to junior Troy Taylor from Evansville.
StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week: Drake's Jeremy Jeffers
Jeremy Jeffers played an average of 29 minutes as a starter for Drake. In an 82-74 win over Bradley, Jeffers contributed 11 points and 2 rebounds. Then in a 69-60 win over Evansville, he led all rebounding with 6 and also put up 4 assists. And closing it out with a 77-60 win versus Illinois State, Jeffers racked up 5 points and 4 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week award for Jeremy Jeffers. The runner-up is Seth Tuttle from Northern Iowa. Honorable mention goes to Shayok M. Shayok from Bradley.
StatSheet Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week: Drake's Kraidon Woods
Kraidon Woods, a 6-9 Senior forward, averaged 27 minutes over the three games for the Bulldogs. In the win against Bradley, Woods got 9 points and 14 rebounds. After that, in the win against Evansville, he racked up 8 points and 6 rebounds. Finally, in the win over Illinois State, Woods led all rebounding with 12 and also put up 4 blocked shots.
This is the first StatSheet Missouri Valley 6th Man of the Week win for Kraidon Woods. Our own Ethan Wragge is runner up. Chip Rank, a sophomore forward from Northern Iowa, earns honorable mention. Creighton has 3 StatSheet Missouri Valley Player of the Week wins this season.
